ROYAL VISITS 1973 AND 1974:
APPOINTMENT OF AUSTRALIAN EQUERRY TO THE QUEEN
The Queen has approved the appointment
of Squadron Leader K. G. Smith, Royal Australian
Air Force, as Australian Equerry to The Queen
for her visits to Australia in October' 1973 and
February/ March 1974.
The appointment follows advice from
London that Her Majesty would be glad to have
an Australian Equerry appointed for these visits.
Squadron Leader Smith, aged 34, married,
was born in Parramatta, New South Wales.
In 1957 he joined the R. AoAoF. as. a cadet and in
December 1960 graduated as a Pilot. lie served
with No. 76 Fighter Squadron at Williamtotm, N. S. W.,
and No. 77 Fighter Squadron at Butterworth, Malaya.
He is a qualified Flying Instructor. In May 1967
he undertook exchange duties in the United States
with the U. S. A. F. Since November 1972 h6 has been
employed as Staff Officer ( Training) in the
Directorate of Support Requirements, Department
of Air, Canberra.
