VISIT BY TUN DR. ISMAIL
The Malaysian and Australian Governments announced jointly
today that Tun Haji Dr. Ismail bin Dato Haji Abdul Rahman, S. S. M.,
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Home Affairs
and Minister of Trade and Industry, will visit Australia-from 11
to 18 March 1973 at the invitation of the Australian Government.
While in Australia Tun Dr. Ismail will be visiting Canberra,
Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart and Armidale.
In Canberra he will have discussions with the Australian
Prime Minister and other Government leaders on matters of interest
to the two countries.
During visits to State capitals Tun Dr. Ismail will meet
the Premiers and take the opportunity to meet Australian
financiers, bankers and businessmen in relation to investment
opportunities in Malaysia.
In Melbourne, Tun Dr. Ismail will visit Melbourne University
where he graduated in medicine in 1945. He will also visit the
University of New England in Armidale where his son is a student.
Tun Dr. Ismail will be accompanied by his wife, Toh Puan
Norashikin and daughter Cik Zailah and an official party of
personal staff and senior officials of the Ministries of Forei
Affairs and Trade and Industry.
The party will arrive in Sydney on 11 March by Qantas FliQ&
738 at 0635 hours and depart on 18 March for New Zealand.
