VISIT BY GOVERNOR-GENERAL TO IRAN
Statement by the Prime Minister, Mr. William McMahon
Their Excellencies The Governor-General and
Lady Hasluck have accented an invitation from The Shah of
Iran to attend the 25th centenary celebrations of the
establishment of the Iranian Monarchy.
The celebrations, which are to be held in Persepolis
from 13 to 17 October, are being attended by Heads of State
from all parts of the world.
Those who have accepted invitations include the
Kings of Belgium, Denmnark, N'epal and Norway? the Presidents
of France, the Federal Republic of Germany, India, Italy,
Pakistan, the Phillippines, South Africa, the UDSR and
Yugoslavia and the Governor-eneral of Canada. Among those
representing Heads of State who have accepted invitations
is the Duke of 1dinburgh.
