The Governor-General has appointed Mr John Fraser as Secretary of the Treasury for a period of five years commencing 15 January 2015.
Mr Fraser brings significant experience in both the public and private sectors to his appointment.
He is currently Chairman of UBS Global Asset Management and other UBS entities in Australia and internationally. He was Chairman and CEO of UBS Global Asset Management from 2001 to 2013. He has been Chairman of Victorian Funds Management Corporation since 2009.
He has also held a number of senior Australian public service positions including as a Deputy Secretary in the Treasury.
Mr Fraser’s appointment follows the resignation of Dr Martin Parkinson PSM.
Dr Parkinson has had a long and meritorious career within the Australian Public Service including appointments as the Secretary of the Treasury and Secretary of the Department of Climate Change.
