Their Royal Highnesses, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, will visit Australia from Wednesday 16 April to Friday 25 April 2014.
The 10 day visit will take the Royal Couple to Sydney (16, 18, 20 April), The Blue Mountains (17 April), Brisbane (19 April), Uluru (22 April), Adelaide (23 April) and Canberra (24, 25 April).
The Duke and Duchess will have opportunities to meet Australians from a wide range of backgrounds including young people, community leaders, young families, Indigenous community members, rural and agricultural communities, volunteers and Defence Force members.
It will be the Duchess' first visit to Australia. The programme will include two of our country's most iconic landmarks – Sydney Opera House and Uluru. The Duke and Duchess will also travel to rural and suburban areas such as The Blue Mountains and Elizabeth in Adelaide.
Kensington Palace has indicated Prince George will accompany The Duke and Duchess on this visit.
The Australian visit will include:
- attending a Reception at the Sydney Opera House;
- visiting the Blue Mountains in New South Wales to meet community members and first responders and volunteers from bushfire-affected areas;
- attending an Easter Sunday Church Service in Sydney;
- meeting children and families at Bear Cottage children's hospice in Manly, Sydney;
- meeting volunteers from the Surf Lifesaving movement at Manly Beach in Sydney and seeing demonstrations of surf lifesaving skills;
- visit Sydney's Taronga Zoo where the Bilby enclosure will be officially named after Prince George;
- attending the Sydney Royal Easter Show;
- viewing Royal Australian Air Force operations and meeting defence force members, veterans and their families at RAAF Base Amberley in Queensland;
- visiting Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park in Central Australia to meet members of the Indigenous community and view the work of Indigenous artists from the area;
- presenting Graduation Certificates to students at the National Indigenous Training Academy, Yulara;
- visiting the iconic Uluru;
- meeting community members in the northern Adelaide suburb of Elizabeth, created in 1955 and named in honour of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II;
- meeting young Australians, including musicians and performers at the Northern Sound System in Elizabeth, Adelaide;
- viewing artworks at the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra;
- attending the ANZAC Day March and Commemorative Service at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra;
- meeting young people and community leaders at Receptions in Sydney, Brisbane, Elizabeth, Yulara and Canberra;
- Their Royal Highnesses will also plant commemorative trees at RAAF Base Amberley, The National Arboretum and the Australian War Memorial.
Australians have great warmth towards members of the royal family.
Members of the Royal Family have enjoyed being in Australia and that pleasure is amply reciprocated by the Australian people.
