SENATE ELECTIDN
Mr Speaker, the Senate will be aware that
to fulfil the requirements of the Constitution, the next
Senate election must be held before 30 June 1971.
Accordingly, the Government has decided to
invite His Excellency the Governor-General to communicate
with the State Governors proposing that the next Senate
election be held on Saturday 21 N-ovember 1970.
When replies have been received from the
States, I shall inform the Parliament of the full timetable
proposed for the election.
