EXECUTIVE CHA! RMAN OF AUSTRALIAN
INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION
Statement by the Prime Minister, Mr. John Gorton
The Secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry, Sir Alan
Westerman, was tonight appointed by the Cabinet to the position of Executive
Chairman of the Australian Industry Development Corporation.
Following Sir Alan's appointment, eight part-time Directoro of
outstanding financial and commercial abilities will be chosen to sit on
the Board of the Corporation.
Also, one full-time Director will be appointed, chosen for his high
experience in financial matters.
Sir Alan will continue to carry on his normal duties as Secretary of
the Department of Trade and Industry, while attending to some of the routine
matters concerned with the Corporation, such as the procurement of prern. ces.
Sir Alan will take up his new appointment on a full-time basis on
1st February, 1971.
