AND MEMBERS
Statement by the Prime Minister, Mr. John Gorton
The Prime Minister announced today that tiie Governor-
General had re-appointed the Chairman of the National Library Council
and six other Council members for varying terms of office from
23rd March 1970. He explained that the Parliament, as provided
by the National Library Act of 1960, had already elected two Parliamentary
members to the Council in the persons of Sir Alister McMullin,
President of the Senate, and Mr. G. M. Bryant from the House of
Representatives. The re-appointments announced today are:
Sir Grenfell Price, C. M. G. ( Chairman)) Reappointed
Sir Leonard Huxley, K. B. E. for one year
The Honourable Sir Peter Crisp Reappointed
Sir Harold Wyndham, C. B. E. for two years
Dr. Ursula Hoff, 0. B. E.
Mr. K. B. Myer, D. S. C. Reappointed for three years
Mr. W. R. Cumming, C. V. O.
The Prime Minister emphasised that these re-appointrre nts
reflected the Government's appreciation of the tireless and devoted
energies of members of the Council.
