The President of the United States of America, the Honourable Barack Obama, has accepted the Prime Minister's invitation to visit Darwin as part of his State Visit to Australia next month.
The President will travel to Darwin on 17 November where he will be met by the Prime Minister. The Darwin visit will follow the President's visit to Canberra where he will address Parliament.
Darwin is Australia's gateway to Asia and this visit is an opportunity to showcase the trade and investment opportunities in Australia's north.
In this 60th anniversary year of the ANZUS alliance, the President's visit to Darwin is also a chance to remember the long and shared history of the two nations' Defence Forces in the Northern Territory and the contribution of the United States to the defence of Australia.
Following the Darwin visit the Prime Minister and President Obama will attend the East Asia Summit in Bali.
