INDI3EPENDENCE OF MAURITIUS
Statement by the Prime Minister, Mvr John Gorton
Senator Dame Annabelle Rankin, Minister for Housing,
will represent the Australian Government at the celebrations marking
the Independence of Maurititis next week ( 12 March).
The Governor-General, Lord Casey, has sent a goodwill
message to the Governor-General of Mauritius, and I have sent a message
to the Prime Minister. The Australian Government will be presenting a painting
and a library of Australian constitutional, historical and literary works
to the Mauritian Government from the Government and people of
Australia. An Ink stand Is being presented to the Parliament of Mauritius
as a gift from the Australian Parliament.
