FOR PRESS: P.M.NO. 29/1967 VISIT OF HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH STATEMENT BY THE PRIME MINISTER, MR. HAROLD HOLT

Details of the programme prepared for his Visit to Australia, between March 1st and 10th, have now been approved by His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh.

While a great deal of Prince Philip's time will be taken up with meetings associated with the Duke of Edinburgh's Third Commonwealth Study Conference, to be held in Australia in 1968, he has several other engagements of a public and official kind and will visit some of the fire disaster areas in Tasmania.

His Royal Highness is scheduled to arrive at the RAAF Base, Fairbairn ( Canberra) at 11. 00 p. m. on Wednesday. March 1st, after flying in an RAF Comet aircraft from Singapore via Darwin. While in Canberra, he will stay at Government House.

On Thursday morning March 2nd. at Government House, he will attend the inaugural meeting of the Australian Outward Bound Trust, and also have talks with members of the Third Commonwealth Study Conference.

In the afternoon he will attend a televised Press Conference at Government House, in connection with the Study Conference,and in the evening will attend a Parliamentary Reception at Parliament House.

Afterwards His Royal Highness will be present at a Dinner at Government
House. On Friday morning at 9. 30 a. in., he will fly from Canberra to Melbourne in an RAAF Viscount aircraft.

The itinerary for the Visit is:-
Wednesday, 1st 11.00 p.m. - Arrive at Canberra by RAF Comet from Singapore via Darwin.
Thursday, 2nd - In Canberra
Friday, 3rd Morning  -Leave Canberra for Melbourne
Saturday, 4th - In Melbourne
Sunday, 5th  - In Melbourne
Monday, 6th Morning - Leave Melbourne for Tasmania
Tuesday, 7th Morning -Leave Tasmania for Melbourne
Wednesday, 8th Morning - Leave Melbourne for Sydney
Thursday, 9th - In Sydney
Friday, 10th Morning  - Leave Sydney by RAF Comet for Singapore via Darwin.
