AUSTRALIA DAY CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulatory Australia Day messages have been arriving
in Canberra today from Heads of Government around the world.
By the end of the afternoon, greetings had been received
from:-Canada, China, India, Malagasy, Singapore,
Uganda, Viet Nam, Malta, Burma,
Indonesia
In his message, Prime Minister Ky of Miet Nam said
" On the occasion of the Australian Day, I should
like to ccnvey to you, Mr. Prime Minister, my heartiest
congratulations and my best wishes for the prosperity of the
people of Australia. I wish to take the opportunity of renewing
to you my deep appreciation for the warm welcome you reserved
to the Vietnamese delegation, to my wife and myself during our
visit to your country. Please accept, Mr. Prime Minister, the
renewed assurances of my highest consideration."
The message from Mr. Milton Obote, President of
Uganda read " On the occasion when you celebrate your National
Day, I wish on behalf of myself, the Government and the people
of Uganda to convey to you personally, the Government and the
people of Australia our warmest congratulations and good wishes.
We look forward to continued friendship and co-operation between
our two countries.
