VISIT BY THE PRIME~ MINISTER OF MALTA
Statement by the Prime Minister, Mr. Harold Halt
The Honourable Dr. Giorgio Borg-Olivier,
Prime Minister of Malta, will visit Australia as a
guest of the Government from 1st to 12th November.
Australians recalling the gallant resistance
of the Maltese people during the years of the Second World
Y Iar will warmly welcome this visit. It will also have special
interest f or those many thousands of Maltese who have settled
here under the immigration programme.
At the recent Prime Ministers' Conference in
London, Dr. Borg Olivier told me how much he was looking
forward to his visit to Australia which is home to the biggest
Maltese community outside of Malta itself.
In New South Dr. Borg Olivier will visit
Sydney from lst-3rd November and the Snowy Mountains on 9th
and 10th November. In Victoria, he will visit Melbourne from 4th
to 7th November and will then travel to Canberra on the 8th,
returning to Canberra from the Snowy to attend the Remembrance
Day Ceremony on 11th November.
He will leave Sydney for the United States and
Europe on Saturday, 12th November.
In addition to leading the GTovernment of Malta
as Prime Minister, Dr. Borg-Olivier is Minister of Commonwealth
and Foreign Affairs. On his Australian visit, he will be
accompanied by Mr. F. E. Amato-G'auci, 11.3. E., Secretary of
Commonwealth and Foreign Affairs.
