NATIONAL RADIATION ADVISORY COMITTEE
Statement by the Acting Prime Minister,
The Right Honourable J. Mc~ E-en. M. P.
The Acting Prime Minister, The Right Honourable J. McEven,
announced today that Professor R. J. ' alsh of the
University of New South Wales had accepted an invitation to
become a member of the National Radiation Advisory Commiittee.
Professor alsh, Professor of Hurma,. Genetics at the
University of New South Wales, is also Director of the Red Cross
Blood Transfusion Service in that State. He , ill fill the
vacancy created by the death last year of Professor E. King of
the Department of Pathology of the University of Melbourne.
Mr. McEven said that Professor Jalsh, with his background
in the biological and medical sciences, was -ell qualified to
assist the National Radiation Advisory Committee, which was
established in 1957, in its function of advising the Government
on the effects of ionizing radiation on the Australian community.
