PRIME MINISTER'S MESSAGE TO GENERAL WESTMORELAND
The Prime Minister has cabled the following message to
the Commander of UnitGd States Forces in Viot Nam, General
Westmoreland:-" Wo ar@ approciative of the warm and generous
commendation of our First Battalion RAR expressed by
you at the conclusion of tho Battalion's tour of duty
in South Viet Nam. The Australian people are proud
of this Battalion which has performed up to the high
tradition of Australian military service.
" These Australian soldiers have played
their part with the forces of South Viet Nam, the United
States and of other friendly countries in resisting
communist aggression. You can confidently anticipate
that those who succeed them will acquit themselves with
the same devotion and distinction.
