MARK LATHAM COMMENTS ON STALEY UNACCEPTABLE

Mark Latham';s remarks on the ABC TV Lateline programme last night in which he described former Liberal Party President Tony Staley as “that deformed character” require an immediate and unconditional apology.
These comments are tasteless and insensitive.
Other remarks made by Mr Latham on the same programme and repeated in a speech to the Young Labor Annual Conference today also amount to nothing more than personal attacks.
Simon Crean says he wants to lift parliamentary standards.
Mark Latham';s remarks about Tony Staley represent an acid test for him and the acting leader of the Opposition Jenny Macklin. Will they or won';t they discipline Mr Latham.
