EXCHANGE OF GREETINGS 1ITH INDIA
Australia's new Prime Minister, Mr. Harold
Holt has had an exchange of greetings with the new Indian
Prime Minister, Mrs. Indira Gandhi.
In her message, Mrs. Gandhi said
" The National ay of Australia affords
me a welcome opportunity to extend to you, and
through you to the Government and the People of
Australia, the warm felicitations of the Government
and the People of India to which I add my own.
WIe also take this opportunity to send our best
wishes for your personal health and happiness and
for the progress and prosperity of the People of
Australia." Mr. Holt replied
" I am warmly appreciative of your
gracious message. My own Government formally
takes office on this, the National Day of our
two countries. I hope this is symbolic of even
closer relationship between us in the future.
I send our best congratulations to you
from the Australian people and myself upon your
assumption of the leadership of the Government and
people of India. May health, happiness and
success be yours in the discharge of your heavy
responsibilities."
