VISIT BY THE PRIME MINISTER OF THAILAND

The Prime Minister, Sir Robert Menzies,
said in Canberra today that Field Marshal Thanom Kittikachorn,
Prime Minister of Thailand, had accepted the Government's
invitation to visit Australia as a guest. He would be
accompanied by his wife.
The visit would take place from 28th
October until 6th or 7th November. Consultations about
the programme of engagements were now taking place and
details would be announced later.
Sir Robert Menzies, in welcoming the Field
Marshal's acceptance, recalled the visit by the King and
Queen of Thailand in 1962, and said that this would be the
first visit by a Head of Government from Thailand. It
would further strengthen the cordial relations existing
between the two countries.
