VISIT TO NEW ZEALAND BY MR. FAIRBAIRN, DFC, MP
Statement by the Prime Minter the Rt. Hon. Sj. lRobert Menzies
The Minister for National Development, the Hon.
D. E. Fairbairn, DFC, MP, will participate in the Anzac Day
commemoration in Wellington, New Zealand, at the invitation
of the New Zealand Government.
The ceremonies will commemorate the fiftieth
anniversary of the Gallipoli landing.
Mr. Fairbairn, who was elected to the Parliament
in 1949 and joined the Ministry in 1962, served as a pilot
in the Royal Australian Air Force during the Second Uorld
. Tar. He saw active service in both the European and Pacific
theatres of war and in 1944 was awarded the Distinguished
Flying Cross for his part in air operations over Europe.
Mr. Fairbairn will leave for New Zealand on
April 21. He will be adcompanied by Mrs. Fairbairn4
