Consequent upon the calling of a general election in Western Australia on
14 December, I have decided to postpone the meeting of the Council of
Australian Governments set down for tomorrow, 15 November in Brisbane.
In the past such meetings have been postponed in similar circumstances. It is
not appropriate that such meetings take place when one of the participating
governments has only a caretaker status.
I have spoken to all Premiers and Chief Ministers regarding the postponement.
